I'm not familiar with the brand. My stainless is a Lone Wolf. I had to have it adjusted (great customer service) for my reloads, but since then it has been flawless.

Was the adjustment needed obvious? How would I know that I have to do the adjustment as well? (forgive my ignorance)

Don't know Slim's situation, but I'd guess an obvious malf would be if the rounds didn't chamber because the barrel was too tight. My LWD barrel on my old G22 worked well because I always used factory ammo. Sometimes reloads will expand a bit with use and need more tolerance in the chamber.
