When I turn my speaker volume up I get a hissing crackling sound. Is this normal? If not I could use some help getting rid of the noise. I'm not sure if you should update the drivers or not, my system is 4 years old and I have the Creative Sound Blaster.

    Thanks

  2. What version of Windows are you using?Video and sound drivers can get corrupted.Reinstalling or updating can help sometimes. Some of the sound drivers in Windows 2000 aren't very good sounding. There is also an OEM version of Creative Sound Blaster card that takes unique drivers.Mostly these came in Dell PC's.If you have one of these you should get updates from Dell or the maker of the PC not from Creative.Windows update might have some of these drivers too but it's best to get drivers from the maker.

I've got a HP computer and I have Windows ME.

    Thanks.

  4. You might want to check HP's website for updates for your PC.Does Windows Update say anything about sound drivers for your PC?I'm not sure Microsoft keeps up ME anymore.

  5. Here's great little program for Windows that really helps in 98 and ME http://www.ccleaner.com/ It may not help your sound problem but it cleans up a lot of things.

I downloaded that CCleaner and the hissing sound is GONE! It found a ton of things to fix.

    Thanks,
