I have 2 doors. First is always locked, that's the porch. If you get through that I'll hear what's coming. Ill have one of the following on my person. Glock 17, Glock 30, Smith 442.

I much rather grab a knife from the kitchen that's right there. It all depends what weapons the Intruder or intruders have. The poor intruder would really get it if he came across the screening banshee of a wife.

Have two doors. First is a loud, squeaky screen door, then door to inside the house. I'm in my bedroom, which is down a hall and around a corner. I'd have plenty time to grab just about anything, but G23 right beside me with two full mags of +P JHPs and an Mtech knife.

Closest loaded gun at hand is a Uberti SAA Sheriff's model loaded with 255 grain cast SWC's over a compressed charge of black powder.

.40 S&W is already a high pressure cartridge. There are no SAAMI +P specs for .40 ammo. Anyone claiming to market a +P .40 S&W is either lying in their marketing hype or manufacturing cartridges with higher pressure than the SAAMI .40 S&W specs call for and leaving themselves with huge liability issues. They could be unsafe in any gun, not just Glocks. The only +P ammo I have seen is from Buffalo Bore and they caution against using it in Glocks, "unsupported chambers", without specifically mentioning the brand. They also have not released pressure data on their cartridges. My guess is it's within SAAMI specs and the "+P" is merely hype.

There's a Romanian Tokarev TT loaded with Wolf HP rounds in that drawer right there. Might as well involve the whole neighborhood...

Anyone have a mossy 500 short bbl with a pistol grip? I have the mossy and was thinking about getting the pistol grip but am concerned it may be a bit unpleasant to shoot. Of course in a home defense situation, unpleasant would not be a problem, but I think you should practice a lot with whatever you plan to use for defense.

Hmmm, learn something every day. More than likely is hype. I bought them at a local gun show when I bought my G23. Package says they are 165 grain +P and they are reloads. Got them for cheap and I've shot quite a few of them without a problem. They feel about the same as the Federal 180 grain FMJ I've been using for target ammo when fired.

I had my 590 set up with the pistol grip for a while. It's not a short bbl, but it was fine with any 2.75" shells. 3" get a little stout, and 3" magnum's were painful. I'm sure even with a short bbl, some 2.75" tactical (reduced recoil) rounds would be fine unless you are recoil sensitive.

Oh, and on topic: G29 at arm's reach should be good enough to get me to the Mossberg 835 that happens to be 8 feet away, which ought to get me down the hall to the bedroom, where... Well, yeah, I'd be o.k. if a knife-wielding nutter came in the door now.

Colt 1911 would go from hip to hand pdq. From there, if they had kicked in my door and entered, a warning to freeze, then a command to get on the ground. Non compliance would result in a center mass double tap with 230gr. Gold Dots. Not a good evening for anyone...

Well, tonight I'm doing my cleaning routine. Seeing as I've got a 16" BCM middy sitting in my lap, anybody kicking in my door...

...would be in for a really rough evening, lol.
