That's one of my lifetime goals, to thru-hike the AT. I've done some backpacking in the smokies before, and loved it. If I had a different crew going with me, I'd try some backpacking, but I don't think some of my friends going will be quite up to that, lol. I do plan on some decent day hikes, but I'm worried about weather that time of year.

It's one of those once-in-a-lifetime accomplishments. I've heard it usually takes 4-6 months to do, with lots of resupply points, lol. It's definitely one of my life goals.

Same reason why some people try to climb all the highest peaks in the world. Just to say that they did. I would love to try it but I don't have the time to take off from the family and the job.

That's my problem right now. I figure I can either do it on my vacations in sections, or wait until I retire to thru-hike it. The problem with that, though, is I have no idea what my health and physical condition will be like then.

I'll hike it with ya. Or conquer it with the rascal scooter I'll be in someday.

Yeah, we're only doing a section that'll be around 50 miles or so. Just a week. I'd love to thru hike it, but same issue. It'll take months and I don't know what my condition will be like when I can retire at 55.

If I can afford to, I might go back and do something like that on my second week of vacation this year in September. I'll just have to see what my finances allow then.

Guess it's worth it. We have similar trips in Europe but they usually have some religious connection and are not that long I think.

Sir yes sir, may I have another one!
