    MechTech Carbine Conversion Unit.

There wasnt much said about them on the very short threads already searched on this kit from a while back and I was wondering if there is any new current info?

My friend just bought a KelTec Sub 2000 but it felt rickity and the grip was splitting when you inserted the mag and the safety button works in the opposite direction than usual. I didnt like it.

It's not legal here in Washington, if I'm correct. Otherwise, I'd love to own the kit.

Hey BAC, they make it for 1911s.

OP, I had one in .40, bought it with a 2nd gen 22 frame installed. I shot it a few times then sold it. My version was a railed top and skeletonized stock. Accuracy was ok, granted I didn't shoot it a lot, but it was noisy, like an AR with a squeaky buufer spring.

My guess is that converting the pistol into a carbine will work at least as well as converting a Corvette into a pickup truck...[IMG]

I registered my G20 and P14 with CA DOJ with a hope that a decent carbine upper would come along.
    What's wrong with this one?

I picked up the 1911 version over 15 years ago. It's a lot of fun, not too useful for anything in particular.

Didnt cowboys carry a 44 SA pistol and a 44 lever action to extend their range and consolidate the ammo they carried?

Didnt Navy SEAls use a pistol caliber carbine (HKMP5) for accurate shoulder fired CQB shooting?

My wife and kids could probably shoot a Glock carbine better than a 12 gauge shotgun for self defense?

I dont get the negative mindset for a Glock carbine?

It may be a reliability issues, or an issue with saddling a Glock frame with something it was never made for. Just speculating, though...
