if 1911's are your first love or your true love?

They weren't my first, but certainly my true.

Do you find that you don't want to even talk about your 'other' guns to non 1911 people because they don't quite get you?

I find this happening to me more more and more.

As much as I love my 1911's, I'm a big Glock fan, as well as XD/XDm, M&P and the old tried and true revolver. And that's just handguns... Huge long gun lover as well.

Some good questions for sure, SG.

I've always liked 1911s, but they didn't become my favorite platform until probably about 10 years ago.

That said, I do very much enjoy talking about other guns. My goal lately has been to get the rest of my collection to the same level of quality and diversity as my 1911 collection. I'm making great progress, but I'm not there yet...

I'm actually considering buying another Glock soon. If I do, it will be my first Glock purchase in over 6 years.

Right now, I only have a G19 and G33. I've wanted a G34 for a long time until the Gen 4 models were proven so problematic. It does seem like Glock is getting back on track though. :dunno:

My first gun was a Colt 1911.
    I loved everything about it.
No other gun can ever take the place of the ol 1911 for me.

    It is an engineering masterpiece.
    Feels great.
    Shoots great.
    Looks great.

All of my other guns are just guns.

My 1911's are the guns I love.

Now that you've brought this to my attention...
Is it wierd to "love" a gun?

My first handgun was a 1st Gen G17
It was stolen while I was stationed in Montana in 1993
Was replaced with a 2nd Gen G19.......had it for many years.

My first handgun that I truly loved was a Beretta 92fs Inox
still have it. I have never had a malfunction of any kind with it, ever.
No brass to the face, no mag issues, no light primer strikes, nothing.

My first non .22 handgun was my Glock 20 and I still love that gun. It doesnt get shot a lot nowadays, but its in no danger of going anywhere. I guess I bought it back in the mid 90's. I love my 1911's, but I also love my rifles. Ive just about got my collection to the place where I want it.

It is about time to add another safe.
I like rifles and shotguns. All kinds. Never been much into anything that requires a class 3, or old militray surplus stuff, but pretty much everything else. What's the CMP?:dunno:

I've always prefered 1911s, my collection outside of 1911s is pretty small. I do like my Colt Pythons though.

of course i own a 1911. and a pair of m&ps. the 1911 will always work. period. she's like the timex of firearms.

The first pistol that I bought nearly 30 years ago was the
SW 36 in this pic. The 686 would be hard to part with, but I don't consider myself a revolver person at all. The 63 is more of a toy.
