Smokeless powder only "smokes less" than its predecessor which is Black Powder but any combustion will still have some smoke as the gas escapes. Smokeless powder is generally nitrocellulose based while Blackpowder is made up of Potassium nitrate, charcoal powder and Sulfur. Maybe these sites will help :)

At bale wala ang benefits ng smokeless powder mo if you use lead heads. Depending on the lube used (on the head), the burning lube will usually give out lots of smoke. ;)

  6. "Smokeless powder" is also called "nitro powder" since it is, as doctabako said, nitrocellulose-based, whereas "blackpowder" is not. (However, some forms of "smokeless powder"/"nitro powder" can also look black, or at least greyish.) For what it's worth, I prefer the "nitro powder" nomenclature.
