Smith & Wesson Returns As Steel Challenge Sponsor

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — For the 27th year, firearms maker Smith & Wesson will be a sponsor of the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships, according to officials from the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA).

The 2010 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships will take place August 19 through 21 in Piru, Calif., and along with serving as platinum sponsor, Smith & Wesson will be represented at the match by several members of its factory shooting team including Kay and Jerry Miculek, Annette and Elliot Aysen, John Bagakis, David Olhasso, Janae Sarabia, Molly Smith, Rachael Crow and team captain Julie Golob.

“This is the 27th year the Steel Challenge has been held, and for each of those 27 years Smith & Wesson has been a part of the action, generously supporting the competition and competing. We’re extremely proud to once again work with Smith & Wesson to bring together the world’s fastest shooters,” said Scott Moore, Steel Challenge sponsor relations.

“The Steel Challenge courses of fire are both challenging and fun making SCSA matches an excellent place to start as a new shooter. On the other end of the competition spectrum, the World Speed Shooting Championships feature some of the biggest names in the action shooting sports. Smith & Wesson is very proud to once again sponsor the Steel Challenge, one of the most exciting events on the match circuit. We wish all the competitors a safe and fun match," Paul Pluff, Smith & Wesson’s director of marketing services.

Since the first Steel Challenge in 1981, the World Speed Shooting Championships have grown into the premier exhibition of speed shooting in the world and routinely draws the fastest shooters from around the globe.
