Small Base Dies for 308?

Discussion in 'Reloading' started by DoctaGlockta, Aug 8, 2010.

  1. So as I had mentioned a while ago I was having problems resizing 308 brass in my LNL AP. Had to arm wrestle each case several times before it would resize.

So I bought a Lee Classic cast press for the other end of the bench.

    Cases resize much easier now.

But some of the brass doesn't check with my lyman case gauge. It is like the last 1/16 of an inch won't go into the gauge.

From looking around it seems that I may need a small base die.

Anyone here have any experience with this. These cases have been shot out of a G3 clone - PTR 91.

    Thank in advance gentlemen.

****Follow up***** this was really torquing me so I went back to the garage. Seems like the culprits are FC brass cases only. The LC stuff works and sizes fine.
