I have an STI Ranger ll and have about 800 rounds threw it and have not had a problem until today. It did not happen every time, maybe every third or fourth mag change. If I were riding the slide stop could this be the cause, or any other thoughts on it. I was alternating between my Glock 30 and the Ranger and maybe my grip changed a little.

Sounds like a mag issue. :dunno:

What kind of mag is it? I had the same issue with Wilson Mags in my 10mm. I put Tripp followers in them and now they work perfect.

I agree with only 800 rounds and the RecoilMaster good for many more, I'd have to point to the mags. Like BReid, I've used Tripp replacement springs and followers with great success.
  5. could it be that your left thumb is riding the slide release lever? check your magazine tube for powder crud build up that could be binding the follower.

I bought a couple of cheap range mags today and had the same problem. A pair of pliers and some adjustment to the metal followers and they work fine-for their intended purpose.
  7. I had one gun that refused to lock the slide back on an empty Wilson ETM. The solution? I purchase CMC Power Mags. They are cheaper, have a metal follower, and make the slide lock back every time.

Pull the slide off the gun and insert your mags one at a time. They should all easily push up on the slide stop. If one does not check the follower to see if it is coming up all the way. By the way I ground the slide stop down on my STI to prevent it from locking back, and ground out a section of all my followers to even more ensure it does not lock back.
