on 3 pin models you have to push out the locking block pin first, then the trigger pin and then the trigger housing pin for complete disassembly of the frame to change trigger bar, trigger spring etc.

i did it on several of my glocks, but always in combination with some trigger parts changed as well, so i had to use the method described above due to complete disassembly of the frame anyway.

but what about a fast way for just changing the slide stop lever?
is it necessary to push the locking block pin out (at least a bit) to take pressure from the trigger pin (which has to be pushed out a little bit for channging the slide stop lever) or do i just have to push out the trigger pin a little bit, to get the old slide stop lever out and install the new one. would have the benefit that the slide stop lever spring couldn't get over the locking block pin, but beneath it, where it is supposed to rest.

will just pushing out the trigger pin for changing the slide stop lever work or will it do any harm to the frame and its internals?

    thanks

:) As long as you work from the left side of the frame to push the #2 pin out, and work from the right side of the frame to replace it, you should be fine. Wiggle the pin, a little, if it sticks - OK.

perfect, so need to take pressure from the trigger pin by pushing out the locking block pin for just this little bit to go for changing the slide stop lever.
the pin has to be removed just a little bit outwards anyway, just enough to get the slide stop lever out, perhaps 5mm or so

why do you have to remove the locking block pin before the trigger pin for complete disassembly?

You don't have to remove the locking block pin first just to change your slide release lever, just remove the trigger pin. You don't even have to take the trigger pin all the way out, just enough to pull the lever out.

that was exactly my thought, just enough to get the lever removed out easily.
    thanks

Just replaced mine on my G30 last week. One o the few gun related mods I can do successfully on my own. Several YouTube videos also available.

Has anybody ever found a reason the slide stop lever needs to be removed faster?

I once was changing my SSL when the door flew open and I found myself in the middle of a zombie attack. Thank Jeebus I knew the faster technique or I wouldn't be typing this right now.
