skype: hackable via WiFi?

    say that skype logs in automatically

    and this lapto is connected to WiFi

    can some use your skype balance?

    I would imagine Skype sends username/password encrypted, so it's unlikely.

    skype actually uses some pretty interesting encryption during the login phase (and the call setup for the receiving end).

    arodgers is correct, that the user/password is encrypted.

    specifically, the Registration section contains information pertinent to the username/pass creation and subsequent login phases.


    metrogruntual, if someone were to use your account without authorization, it would probably be due to a trojan horse or keylogger on your computer. or, perhaps, a very weak password.

    In Wifi you should use WAP or WAP-2 to make secure wireless link.

    WEP is very weak.
