Would give anything to have a brace of these. Lol.
Shot a few over the years and loved them. Seems that they are hard to find now. Original anyways.

Any users have one (or more) of these fine pistols?

That is my daily carry. I have not done anything besides repark it (kitchen table job) and put a new disconnector and sear in. I am adding an ambi safety as I usually carry lefty. the ambi safety should be here tomorrow.

When I got it, mine was worn down to the bare metal and had no finish left. It looked like it was barely shot tho. It is a good reliable gun. I will probably put new sights on as the GI sights are pretty small and my eyes are feeling my 40 years old.

CCW pistol huh? Excellent. The ones I shot were 100% reliable at the range. I even think that one day we shot about 220+ rounds in one setting. Perfect.

I recently re-qualified for my carry permit, and a guy at the range was shooting what to me looked like a like-new Sistema. Said he got three of them for about $35 each way back when.

    OK
The Sistema Colt 1927 was the first 1911 pistol I have owned that actually works properly.

  7. Yes, I have 1 maybe 2 Sistemas. The one I am sure of has zero finish on it.

Here's a pair of Rosarios to draw to...

Top is a '45 made, bottom is '56. Both have been tweaked by whoever owned them prior to coming my way. MSH, GS, grips, some polishing down of finish and edges... refinished (tho I'm not sure about the '45)

Well built South American shooters. Kinda like Brazilian Imbel 1911s only made a bit farther south and with fewer MIM parts. (I wonder if Rosario sold their machinery to Imbel when they quit making the 1911s?)

I had a 1927 sistema Colt 45 many years ago and had it Armoloyed ( Dull Gray finish) and sold it a few years later- just another dumb move on my part....:embarassed:

The Rosario built FALs were pretty sweet too.

My son has claimed my Sistema when I croak, so I guess I will never sell it either.

Well well well. I broke out the '45 Sistema the other day when this thread popped up, just to fondle, etc. Decided to take it to a local smith to see if he could tighten up the rear barrel connection as it had too much up/down movement for moi.

Just picked it up. Now it sports a new link and pin, but it's still got too much up and down play in it. So it won't be accurate or as accurate as I like, I'm guessing. Gotta run a round or two thru it for function fire check first I suppose.

So... do I spend some money having a new barrel hand fit, knowing the 67 year old timer will not be all matching (keeping the original barrel mind you) as well as knowing that the heat treatment is not up to current snuff... maybe put some geezer sights on it as well... or leave it as is, an old Gaucho warrior put out to pasture?

The roll mark on this one does not have the mm after the 11.25 (SIST. COLT CAL. 11.25 MOD. 1927) so to some it's worth collecting... maybe. Maybe not.

Thoughts? Leave it or tweak it?

Value is far below what a '45 made in US warhorse would have, so selling it, not really an option to me. I do hate the thought of modifying any old warrior. But I do like shooting them and putting rounds where I want them to go, not in the general vicinity. Ya know? :dunno:

    As I said, decisions decisions.

the ugliest gun I own is the Sistema. It shoots great and I would never sell it.
