Go with the Classic Steel. By a long shot. Not even a question.

Sig STEEL all the way. If I want plastic I'll buy Tupperware.

P228, no question. One of my favorite handguns of all time.

You should be able to find a lower price on the SP2022. THey were going for 350 pre ban. Apparently they are amazing guns.

Can't go wrong with either. Both are great guns. You used to be able to get SP2022's for under $400 all day long a few months ago. Magazines were hard to come by and expensive then, now they're even more difficult to find and expensive. Why they didn't engineer those things to work with regular 226 magazines is beyond me.

I don't have a P228, but I do have a bunch of other "Classic" SIGs, and they're all great. For those prices, I think the P228 would be the way to go, for magazine availability more than anything else. My SP2022 is extremely accurate though. More so than my P226, P229, or any of my Glocks. Target gun accurate.

tough choice. But try the trigger in the SP2022. It has IMHO the best DA/SA trigger Sig ever produced:wow:

I had a 228 sold it to buy a second sigpro and goodies.

I'd like to know what you guys are talking about with "Sig Steel" do you guys have a clue?

Both the 228 and the 2022 have steel slides, but the frame of the 228 is alloy that is anodized, that means a slide to frame interface that is steel on aluminum.

the Sigpros (2340,2009,2022) have steel rail sections in the polymer frames so the slide to frame interface is steel on steel.

Granted my 228 was well used but I found the 2022 to be more accurate, (not a great amount but noticeable off hand )easier to clean, and I happen to think, that since you don't know if a used 228 has been kept properly lubed (the alloy frame likes wet) the life remaining on the anodizing of the frame may or may not be what you expect.

I much prefer the alloy framed Sigs, and the P228 is a great gun.

The Sig Pro is really an underrated gun that never took off the way Sig hoped it would. They are known to be reliable guns, and the ones that I have shot worked well. However, I still much prefer the P228.

Really couldn't go wrong with either IMO. I am definitely a big fan of Sig. I have seen some used Sig Pros going for cheap lately and considered picking one up, I just dont have a use for one.

    On the move ... again!
Go shoot both and see which fits you better.

I like the P228 as most in this thread but it is your cash and decision.
