i heard they are discontinued is this true cause this was gonna be my next gun purchase
If in CA, you'd better get one of them, as once CA's 'must have mag safety, chamber loaded indicator' specs hit, they will not likely be on CA's infamous 'approved list'...
Give 'em time.
To many people love the 220 to stop making them.
Too many people loved the non-railed stainless steel P220ST to stop making them, but they did.
Too many people loved the non-railed stainless steel P229ST to stop making them, but they did.
Too many people loved the non-railed stainless steel P226ST to stop making them, but they did except in Eckernförde.
There is no rhyme or reason to what Sig's bean counters will or won't do.
Sad, but so true.
I'm not so sure it's always the bean counters. Look at the cast of characters running the company. Director of Marketing made some comments at the 2010 SHOT show:
(1:00 - 1:08)
Rifle company that makes pistols but their heritage is pistols , wtf .
Like the two new P238 that are coming soon.
More junk to fix.
I think Sig need to fire the marketing round table guys . They are really starting to jump the shark with these two. I want to see the test market they used for them. Guess the next one with be all chrome and fake pearl grips and called the (Pimp) and a fake pink pearl grip model called the (hooker).
It needs to be your next purchase because the P220 is a great pistol .
Agreed. Where are the shooters? Better yet, where are the adults?
Discontinued or not, I doubt you will have trouble finding one.
With thirty-two 220 models, you have to wonder if all of them are worth production cutover time.
Here's the P220 Match Elite.
"The SIG SAUER® P220® P220 Match Elite defines accuracy..."
They should have added, "... at night. With it's tacti-cool tac rail, you can mount your Sig accessory light to enable you to shoot like an Olympic champion in a dark alley."
I think I'll get one of these and take some bulls eye, precision shooting, low-light, dark alley classes.
That is one 220 they didn't need rails added. I believe they take a blank frame and sit around a table and think of what to add to it. I do wish they made the option of non rail or rail on the pistols. If they would ditch some of there models they could afford to cast and sell them .
Sigsters have been b1tching and moaning about the rails for years. There have been poll after poll. About 2/3 of us want non-railed Sigs.
Several times I've written to Exeter with the poll results; no response from the arrogant ones.
BTW, the steel frames are machined out of stainless steel bar.
