I pawed it over at last year's SHOT Show. I didn't find anything visibly wrong with it, but it doesn't do anything for me.

There are already proven .308 battle rifles out there in that price range. I don't see any reason to buy an untested one, and especially since it doesn't offer anything unique. Seems like another "me too" offering.

Wonder if the magazines are based off of a current design or unique to Sig?

Indeed. It seems Sig's answer to it's numerous quality issues is to produce more junk. Save your money.

not interested in a SIG 516 or 716 especially if the in store price is 1800 dollars. i saw a picture of a sig in 308 that was similar in design to the 550 series rifles and would be all over one if sig made them available in the US. DPMS, BM, armalite, POF, LWRC and rock river all make good ar15 style rifle in 308 that i would buy before i bought the sig.

Mags are Armalite. I think the BCG is a modified Armalite Ar10

Better price point than I thought. The Sig 556s sell even with the crappy furniture. I'm sure these will sell. If they took Sr25/dpms mags I'd look closer. LMT stock.

With all due respect sir, the AR-15 is an AR-10 style rifle in 5.56/.223, not the other way around!

He means that the AR-10 was developed first and the AR-15 is derivitive of that. However, "AR-15" has become more of a generic term for the Stoner Direct Impingment in 5.56 and similiar intermediate caliber, while AR-10 still is used to refer to the actual Armalite product as you used it. He must have mistakenly thought you were transposing the "AR-10" label to Stoner style .308 caliber rifles in the same way that "AR-15" has been used.

Now it's all gone pedantic in here, bleh. I've actually just punched myself for being a ******bag. :tongueout:

Like all the other .308 AR's these days, it's quite lame. I want the real AR-10. The one the overseas heroes carried bravely into battle. The one that made the terrorists in Angola cry.

That is a VERY nice looking rifle, which I would seriously consider if Sig does a good job with it.
