    Anyone tried Hoptimum?
It's like mainlining a hops plant..

    Not for sissys.

    I'll pass. Too Bitter....

I've noticed that since the value of the dollar has declined, I'm finding less good imported beers and more over hopped micros.

    Welcome to the sickness.

I have not had the Hoptimum. I'll ask my favorite bar about the brew.

My favs. from the hoppy vault are SKA Modus Hoperandi, Green Flash Palate Wrecker (over 100 IBUs) and Harpoon IPA from Harpoon.

Like the OP said, "not for sissys." :)

And I'm not sure how a double IPA can be "over hopped." That's like saying "I have too much sex."

I like hop aroma and flavor but not so much the bitterness. I just got the ingredients for my next five gallon batch of homebrew. SEVEN ounces of hops. Mostly late additions and dry hopping. Recipe software says it will be about 38 to 40 IBU's Just right.

    It's a good beer, but I'd rather have a Bell's Hopslam.

I haven't bought any yet, but I'm sure I'll love it once I do. I'm a huge Sierra Nevada and DIPA fan.

Never seen that at any of my local liqour stores, but I am a torpedo fan. Harpoon IPA is at the top of my list. Harpoon UFO for warmer days.

Also try "Looses Cannon" by Heavy Seas or "Hop Wallop" Victory Brewery.

I'll have to look for that when I hit the store tomorrow. Had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale this afternoon. I like hoppy beers but usually not more than one at a time.

Overall I prefer a good malty ale. I've got a Coopers Real Ale bubbling in the fermenter now. It's a malt extract kit, a favorite of mine, easy to make and a good rich flavor. I use additional malt and sometimes a little cardamom.

I had a few Loose Cannons in Baltimore a few weeks back very nice and well balanced IPA.

Looks like I have a new beer to try this afternoon. The hoppier the better.
