I need to grt myself a shot timer to help myself improve. I am not sure what to look for or get.
Who makes a good ones for personal use?

I have a CED7000 and it is great for dry fire and range use both. It has all you need and more. However, I use the pocket pro and pocket pro II at work and they are good timers as well and nearly indestructible. It all depends on what you want.

For at home dry fire training around family, I would stick with the CED7000, which has a pretty mild beep on the low setting, or maybe the CED8000 which can be used with headphones. They both have all the bells and whistles you could ever want and more.

Whatever you decide to get, make sure that the par times settings are adjustable in tenths and/or hundreths of a second. My first timer's par times settings (speed timer 3000) were only adjustable in .5 second increments and it sucked for dryfire. Other than that it's a decent timer and I still keep it in my range bag as a backup or loaner.

Yep--solid recommendation there. That is a fully functional shot timer. Nothing better on the market for function. For dry fire, it's a clear winner. It has both adjustable volume on the beep, and adjustable sensitivity (it'll pick up an airsoft gun)

For simplicity and ruggedness you can't beat the PACT Club Timer IV. Not as fully featured, but it has replaceable batteries and it is a tank. My Club timer has been through stuff that would put the 7000 in an early grave.

Love 'em both, have 'em both, recommend 'em both.

I bought the CED7000 based on recommendations on the enos forums. I couldn't be happier with it.
