Been shooting .45acp and 9mm for more years than I can remember.

Forward to yesterday, G22 and G23 Generation 4. I fire about three hundred rounds of 180 grain .40S&W and now have a painful blister on the knuckle of the finger next to my index finger on my right hand.

Never had an issue with recoil or such a problem.

Is there some trick to firing a G22/G23?

The first knuckle on your middle finger, where it contacts the trigger guard? That's typically called Glock knuckle.

Trim some of the trigger guard if it really bothers you. I get it occasionally if I put a lot of rounds down range with non-21/30 sized guns, but it doesn't really affect my shooting, so I just deal with it.

Could just be the increased recoil impulse of the .40's that give it a bit more "jump", right into your finger.

Way to prevent without modifying the pistol?

Wear gloves or a band aid.

What gen are your other glocks? I dont have that problem shooting my gen2 g23, maybe it's the finger grooves on the front of the grip that might be a factor to this problem?

Gloves are pretty much the only option, if you don't want to modify the gun.

It's the grooves. The finger grooves on the compact and sub-compact frames are slightly shorter than the ones on the full-size frames, so that pushes some peoples' knuckles into the trigger guard.

EDIT - double tap, meant to add this to my previous post.

I never had an issue like that with a Glock, though I never remember firing 300 rounds of 40S&W at once either.

Had my 22 gen4 since the day I turned 21. Two years ago lol. I've gone through 750+ rounds on a single weekend (oh the good ol days) and shoot it regularly. Haven't had an issue as far as blistering goes for my fingers. I don't wear gloves either. Try adjusting your grip. Hope this helps

Check to see if there are any sprue or mold points that may be causing a pressure point. Rub the bottom and lower edges of the trigger guard w/ some green scotch-brite pad to smooth it out.

And relax your grip a little. The .40 is a High-pressure round of reasonable diameter, it has a very short but rapid initial recoil in the lightweight Glock.

Let it go, it doesn't go very far and then just push the muzzle back on target.

9mm don't have the dia., .45's are low pressure.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the .40. (and the 155/165 gr. fodder is even worse)

I think the grip might be part of the issue, I do remember having a "death grip" on the pistol.
Tough to loosen the grip in a pistol that has such a different recoil, going to the range again this weekend.
Trying to get this all worked out as end of Sept going to a LE course and will be firing 1,000 rounds in 2 1/2 days with the G22.

BAC, I told AWMP the same thing the other day on email. I think he's just got wussy-soft hands. : )

AWMP, I think you're just spoiled from 1911's.....

Yep, been shooting Glock for about 25 years, more or less. Shot them in matches, classes that went 750 rounds a day, had pain from the amount of shooting, but never on my knuckle. I can't remember that ever coming up among all the Glock shooters I know. Usually it's the web of my hand that gets sore. In .40, I've fired a little over 200 rounds in a day, with no problems. My brother, and many other LE officers in my agency, have fired a LOT more .40 and I never heard a complaint about "Glock Knuckle" blisters.

Not sure about a real round but shooting and carry 45acp seemed to be a lot more fun
