Shooting From Cover

Discussion in 'GATE Self-Defense Forum' started by IDCG, Sep 12, 2011.

  1. Hello Mas

I was shooting my G17 w/night sights this weekend and was having trouble hitting my target from cover (shooting from behind a bench, leaning over it ike one would do over a car hood).

I had no problem hitting my target off-hand using the Weaver, but when I leaned over the bench and fired, I had trouble hitting. I can't tell where I was hitting because there were too many holes in my target.

Somehow my sight alignment changed when shooting over the bench. Any ideas what I may have been doing wrong?

    Thanks.

Try it again with fresh, clean targets for a better self-analysis.

Without seeing you shoot I can't try to diagnose the problem from afar. One thing to bear in mind, though, is that when we shoot from unfamiliar positions, it's common to focus so much on the form of the new "stance" that we overlook the basics of sight alignment and trigger press.

When you give it a try again, come on back here and share the results, please.

    Best,
    Mas
