Semper Fi all! I'm looking for information about marines assigned sea duty. Were marines assigned to all Naval vessels, I'm specifically looking for any marines assigned to destroyers. Thank you in advance for your help.

Not a jarhead but Im an ex squid. Marines are typically only assigned to certain vessels. Usually large ships like carriers or to landing craft. Ive never known any ships like destroyers, frigates, cruisers, etc. that deployed with Marines.

What particular reason do you ask? Maybe I can help you find the info you want.

I'm doing some fictional writing and want to make sure I don't include it if it's not true. I appreciate the help.

A long time ago Marines were on all capital ships, up until around 91-92 they were still on carriers and battleships. Today Marines only serve on L class ships (landing) and are assigned as squadrons of the carrier air wing in support of air craft carriers.
