The 1006 5" were the most made, they are easier to find also, they can be had with fixed sights or adj. target sights. I would recommend the 1006, but any of the 6 different models are great...the rarest is the 1046 Double Action ONLY with only 151 being made, finding one is tough and paying for it even tougher!

Aftermarket stuff is lacking for them.

    Good luck!

    The_Shadow knows :)

The 1006 was going to be my vote and my reasoning already posted. I stumbled on mine in a local used case for a decent price. That seems to be the best way to find them. They seem to go for or above market value on the auction sites.

Thanks for the heads up on GB.
I am going to keep a eye on the 1006 and the
    1076 FBI.

Do the SW 10mm semi autos have the so called "fully supported barrels"
and can take the highest pressure loads or do they leave smiles on
the cases with hi pressure ?

It would mean the difference in me wanting one.
    Thanks

Yes they are for the most part fully supported as can be and the chambers are close tolereance too. Less than 1/8" exposure, as seen here, but my Bar-Sto barrels have even more support than the factory 10mm.

I have never had any smiled brass and expansion held to a minimum even with higher impulsed rounds.

They are in my opinion the strongest most reliable 10mm pistols ever made for the cartridge. Highest expansion I ever had was 0.4280” which was Hornady 200XTP, 9.4 grains of 800X and CCI magnum primer @ 1254 fps.

I have had my 1006 since early 1990 and it has handled every thing I have ever thrown at it in 10mm, 40S&W and 9x25Dillon.

Only draw back is getting extra parts, some are availible, some are very pricey and aftermarket is limited. Oh they are a little heavy but great shooters!
