Going to pick up a g23 on Monday and the serial # starts w AYS. I cant find AYS on the list here so I was wondering if anyone knows when it was made. 2nd gen 23.

    Thank you in advance

If I was a betting man, I would take a guess and say it was manufactured sometime around June 1994!

    From the serial number project:

    AYH - G-21 - August 1994 - 2nd Gen.
    AYK - G-21 - July 1994 - 2nd Gen.
    AYL - G-22 - June 1994 - 2nd Gen.
    AYR - G-23 - June 1994
    AYT - G-23 - June/July 1994 - 2nd Gen. - fixed sights, two hi-cap mags
    AYW - G-19 - July 1994
    AYZ - G-19 - August 1994 - 2nd Gen.

I saw that and pretty much assumed the same thing. I'll just give Glock a call on Monday and also ask them if gun is on list for upgrades.

    Thanks

Once purchased, get the three letter barrel code and that should give you a definitive date. I have a BYPXXXUS - Glock 23, and I have never had any issues with it.

My bad, the older Glocks had a three letter code (different than the serial number) on the barrel that you could match to a Glock manufacture date. The Glock you have would not have this code, not sure when Glock decided to eliminate the date codes from the barrels.

That 23 looks like it is in really good shape! Nice purchase.

Thanks. It's in great shape, barely any smiley at all on barrel.

Looks nice, and looks just like my AKVxxx of the same model... same Hogue grip that has lasted all these years.

I haven't yet had my internals updated, but apparently Glock would do it if I gave them the chance.
