I just bought a moderately used 5 yo Springer LW champion. I am looking for a gunsmith who knows his stuff and can do a lot of work, including bobtail, carry melting and refinishing. I am looking for the guy who may not be super well known yet so the prices are fair and the wait isn't forever. Let me know your suggestions!

This guy is a friend of mine. Does my guns. He is One of the best I've seen, and at a very fair price. Call and talk with him. He does excellent work. I can assure you that you will NOT be dissipointed at all. He has articles praising his work in magizines, and is one of the best smith's for 1911 in Texas. Again, his prices are 'very reasonable.'

BTW. There are several on GT, other than myself that use him, if you want to do a search, send them a PM and ask some questions. There are pics of his work on this forum somewhere as well.

  11. I'm sure there are several excellent 1911 smiths out there,
but I just wanted to give a thumbs up to crawley customs.
He did some work on my Colt and his work is A1.

Thanks for the replies. SA looks pricier than what some others are charging for the same work, although I am sure they do an outstanding job. I did look at the link other's have posted, there are some very talented people there. I was looking more for the lesser known smith that someone here has had experience with, and knows does a great job. Keep 'em coming, and thanks!

I just got this Colt back from Dave Helton at dvsmallarms.com last week. The work is fantastic, very reasonably priced and turn around was less than a month. I am more than happy with Dave's work....he is great to deal with, also.

In Southern Kalifornia, the list of "competent" 1911 smiths is short. For quality work, "fair" pricing is a relative term. I can vouch for Will O'Hara who has done several guns for me. He is well known with the USPSA crowd. Give him a call @ 951-371-4971.
