    Dear sirs,

    Greetings. Seeking permission to join.

Reading posts in this forum the past few months. Quite illuminating. Candid, too.

I am new to guns (just a few months). I presently have a Glock model 21 which, I like to think, is for defensive purposes. This is not an endorsement of any kind, but I like the Model 21 very much.

I am now thinking about entering competitions, IPSC or IDPA? And I plan to purchase a gun just for it. I am inclined towards the Glock Model 34 or Model 35. Also thinking about a 1911. I read somewhere that the Glock Model 34 performed quite impressively in competitions. A chap named Sevigny (?) won championships with it, out of the box.

May I have your comments and advice about what gun to buy, please.

    Thank you very much.

    Nick.

PS Where can I learn competition shooting? Is there anyone here willing to impart his knowledge, skills and experience to a tyro like me? How much is the fee? Thanks.

    :welcome:

The G34 is not legal in IPSC Production. Although you can use it in Standard Division but you will be scored in minor. A G22 or G35 would be great in Standard, you can choose the G17 if you want to compete in Production.

In the meantime, you can use your G21 for competition. You know, just to get the feel of it. Your only disadvantage would be the number of rounds per magazine, but that shouldn't be a problem for a beginner.

Wait, are you all set in getting another Glock for competition? If not, there's a whole lot of choices that will make your head spin.

You can try to watch IPSC matches to get you acquainted. For training, PM mo si jasonub. :)

Sir, the 34 and 35 won't qualify you for IPSC production. they would put you in standard div. I think they were meant to have an advantage on IDPA type competition which is quite few here compared to IPSC which is almost weekly.

Don't confuse IPSC with USPSA. In USPSA rules, Glock 34 and 35 are allowed in production division, but not under IPSC rules.

for training ill pass you to lito pible. but you have to learn the basics and can shoot properly before he trains you.

so just ask advice on this forum and we will gladly help for free:)

Use your Glock 21 meanwhile. It's a very good gun and you can compete with it in the Production Division. Whatever extra cash you have is better spent on ammo for practice.

To learn competition shooting, you should become a member of a gun club, preferably one situated near your residence.

Hang out with the BOGs during their practice shoots and you will get shooting lessons for free, too.

You never can find a friendlier bunch.

go straight to a 1911/2011 format. you will not be disappointed!

  10. . . . and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from . . .

  11. Welcome to BOG Sugarol!, you can use your g21 for competition. It's a matter of familiarizing your gun. It's a good reliable gun really. Want to have one someday. Minus point lang ng glock is its grip angle as compared to 1911s. The rest, ok na.

I think you can use the g21 not only in production division but also in standard division because of the power factor it has. Happy shooting bro!

    doin' time
welcome Suragol, they said it all na.
but here's what i have to add .
Join a gunclub (yung reputable and FED accerdited) (with instructors and RO )in your area then tuloy tuloy na yan.

Anong Division ba balak mo salihan?
kung Prod. G17, CZ, Jericho, Norinco's are ideal piece/s
kung standard 1911 or 2011 flatform
kung open STI,SVI,SPS or the halohalo make overs some of our vet (darksider) Bogs have.

yung G34 g21 ( i have to open my IPSC rules)

For Rigs, holsters and stuff it will depend on your pistol . JR speed, CR speed Guga R, and others available in the market.

deliver from my bad influence??? mwehehehehehe!

i will rephrase my advise, sugarol...

go straight to an open pistol! hahahaha!

Seriously, ok ang g21. Kaya lang para kang naka single stack bec. of the load count. 13+1 lang kasi. Just reload going to the next position. Get plenty of magazines, at least 6. Mura na naman glock mags now. Pwedeng pwede ka na maglaro sa standard division.

for holster rigs and magpouches, member ng GT si Jun Gino, owner ng JR Speed. Meron tayong special discount sa kanya!

Thank you very much, gentlemen, for our kind responses. Quite helpful, I really appreciate it.

What is IPSC What is the most popular division in competitions? What caliber is most used? Is there a rules handbook available?

Ok ba the Glock 35? Can I use it in competitions?

I hope I don't burden you with my questions, my dear sirs.

    Thank you.

most popular is still the standard divison. .40 cal in 1911/2011 format.

G35 is ok for Standarard but most shooters prefer the 1911/2011 platforms. mainly due to the trigger

fafa: baka mahirapan ka to meet major factor sa G23 with the short barrel...

eto load data gamit ko sa G22 ko dati in production division.

VV N320 4.0gr 155gr teflon heads PF is a very manageable and soft shooting 140.

Kung puro alpha naman, competitive ka pa rin sa Std division using minor loads
