MrMurphy I enlisted in the Air Force in '95 as a Law Enforcement specialist. About midway of my enlistment Law Enforcement and Security merged into one career field (3pox1). I did 4 years active duty and was stationed at RAF Molesworth UK and Minot AFB. At Minot I got on a Mobility unit and was TDY most of the time. I did a mixture of LE and Security.

I'm the Proud Father of my son who is currently serving the USAF in Keflavik, Iceland. He is a member of the 85th SFS, keeping Iceland safe from Viking attacks. So far so good.

Thank you to all for your service, we are proud of all of you.

    2 yrs in LE (1976-1978).
    5.5 yrs as SP (1982-1987).
Commissioned in 1987 and got out of the cops. Was Disaster Preparedness chief (changed name to Air Base Operability - your friendly gas mask folks) until 1994 when I went to CE to work RRR. Did 3 deployments to NATO on the war games as an inspector. Fun time. Then went back into the cops in 1996 as the commander. Retired in 2000.
Most ANG, some AD. In 1986 was TDY to Wildenrath, Germany with the RAF Police and Regiment. Wild time. Great bunch the Brits. Just don't try partying with them. Also did AD tours at Hickam and Hurlburt.
I was in TAC/ACC the entire time.

I'm not SF but I think the guys that fly on my jet E-4B look S-H.
They wear green flight suits with green tactical vests. Three M4 30 rounders, two M9 mags and an M9 on the chest, carrying a tac'ed out M4 with lights and stuff. I would never want to mess with them.
Hats off to you guys. Some make fun of you but you are the backbone of a base.

    You're jet;f ;f

    Kids nowadays;)

Got to Offutt back in 83 when one (think it was just 1) was still a E4A. Flew on the E4B as a backup and loged many hours as CI/CB on both alert and non alert E4's.

Ran into one of the very 1st E4 drivers here after I retired, he is a heck of a man and has some good stories!!!!

Drove countless miles in the missile fields. Some good times back then. Got cold up there though!! Would like to go back someday and see what has changed.

COLD? I was there for a week one November and it was like 14 degrees. The wind was blowing. That was way more than cold...

I was real happy to get back to boring Vandenberg weather...;f

I must have just missed you at Clark. I was there Dec. '88 through Dec. '90.

You want to know what was bad. I left the Phillippines in December and it was like 100*. I got to Minot in January and it was like -80* with the windchill.;P

I thought the same thing when I stepped off the plane in Dec. there. But honestly, most of us got used to the cold, wind, snow, ice, etc, etc, etc. I remember a few -70+ degree days (w/wind chill) there. So cold that you just don't feel anymore!

Malmstrom A.F.B., MT. 3/1977-till discharge in 9/77 (SAC, again!)

I was a true dog handler, I was **** on, pissed on, and bit, and still have the scars to prove it! Worked some LE duty at Fairchild (helped subdue a guy tearing up the barracks with my dog, my, how quickly they comply with a 100 lb. shepherd snarling and lunging at them) and in Turkey, walking around the housing areas in the dark hours with the dog. Went TDY to Glasgow A.F.B., MT. when the 92nd Bomb Wing still had some bombers on alert there, and watched jackrabbits run around on the runway in the wee hours. Other than working the dogs, pretty boring job. Welcome fellow Space Pigs & SAC warriors! Take care...

6 months delayed recruitment 6 months at Lackland and Camp Bullis '78 81150A Training (SP)and Dog School then off to Spangdahlem W.Germany (52nd SPS) until end of '80. Remember all those Hares running around the weapon storage areas and that "Withches Grave" glowing in the moonlight across from the Fuel Tanks around on the back forty. We also had a old F-4 (tail number 777) that seemed to move from side to side in the shelters when it was on alert duty.

"Spang" town was boring but I preferred the "Hook and Gun" club over at Bitburg.

I never see any Hares running around here. The Witches Grave still stands, spooky frigging place. F-4's are all gone nowdays.

And Yes, Spangtown is a waste. The Old Bitburg AB, has become a housing area for Spangdahlem, everything else was turned over to the Germans. Wish I knew where their range was, i'd go check if it is capable of being used. BTW, I live on the Old Bitburg AB.
