"Security Alert" ...

Discussion in 'Tech Talk' started by Green_Manelishi, Jan 1, 2011.

  1. Earlier this evening (listening to online Radio Nan Gaidheal) my PC "Windows" popped up a warning the PC was/is infected by about 12 different malwares, etc. One of those referenced was SHeur.ZSQ If you open this link ... http://www.precisesecurity.com/blogs/2009/03/29/sheurz_sq/ it shows (almost) exactly the message I was seeing. I did not click anything. Instead I re-ran Malwareby.., Antimalware, Spybot, Spywareblaster, AVG. None of them detected even close to that level of infiltration. Any comments?

That's pretty common, it's trying to trick you into installing their malware.

  3. That's what I "figgrd". But I've never had trouble with the BBC site. Weird.

You are correct - It's not the actual site you are visiting, it's the advertiser that is the issue.

That is the way that most malware gets out. Sites are not really able to 'test' the advertiser code, so it's easy to put some malicious code in there... which also makes it nearly impossible to trace!

Just close those popups using the key combo of <ALT> + <F4> to close the window.

    Trust me, it works!

    Happy New Year!
