SEAL PO2 Mike Monsoor's Funeral

Discussion in 'US Navy Forum' started by GreenBeret1631, Jun 11, 2008.

  1. PO2 Mike Monsoor was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
    posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq, giving his life to save
    his fellow Seals.

    During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being
    moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
    Cemetery, SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route
    forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center.*

    As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from
    his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.

    The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin
    arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the
    Tridents pinned to it.* This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

    This should be front-page news instead of the worthless rhetoric we see everyday.

    Fair winds and following seas shipmate. Stand easy, we have the watch.

    "Navy Hymn

    Eternal Father, Strong to save,
    Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
    Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
    Its own appointed limits keep;
    O hear us when we cry to thee,
    for those in peril on the sea.

    O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
    And hushed their raging at Thy word,
    Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
    and calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
    Oh hear us when we cry to Thee
    For those in peril on the sea!

    Most Holy spirit! Who didst brood
    Upon the chaos dark and rude,
    And bid its angry tumult cease,
    And give, for wild confusion, peace;
    Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
    For those in peril on the sea!

    O Trinity of love and power!
    Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
    From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
    Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
    Thus evermore shall rise to Thee,
    Glad hymns of praise from land and sea."

    Sorry but you are incorrect.

    It is correctly called the Medal of Honor.

    The medal is frequently, albeit incorrectly, called the Congressional Medal of Honor, stemming from its award by the Department of Defense "in the name of Congress".

    God Bless the man. My sincerest salute and well-wishes to his after-life. May you always find plenty of cold beer, warm women, and good brethren to keep you going in your battles.

    The current purveyors of the news hate this country with a passion that will never die. SEAL PO2 Mike Monsoor stands as testament to the greatness of this country, and as such he is anathema to them.

    Hell, one need not even stray from Glock Talk to hear some of these America hating pigs call the likes of SEAL PO2 Monsoor a "mindless robot". Then again, if they had to face up to how brave our troops really are, then such cowards would have to face the truth about themselves, and heaven knows they could never survive that.

    God bless Petty Officer 2nd Class Monsoor and his family.
