Well most of it. I recall they hype when it came out. I almsot went to theater to see it. I am VERY glad I didn't. If I had paid $5 I would have been ticked when I walked out.

What did I miss? What was so great about it? Other then make me dislike India/Police there. (gangs/people,etc)

It was a nice love story. At least $8.47 worth to me.

Oh wow, I wonder how much they cut up. I found it very moving, surprisingly so.

Spoiler (incase I am not the last person to see it)

Love story? Kids and his older brother drops her off train so they get seperated. He is going to be blinded so he can work as a begger? She is going for big $$$ as "unsoiled" so some creap can deflower her. The rescue I was encouraging the brother to shoot. (situational) but then he is going to shoot his own brother/rape the girl they "saved"

Hands gal over to mobster, brother is hit man. Abusese her, Police beat/abuse younger brother/electric shock, then let him go back on show (with no rest) and he gets money/girl (that is well worn) and his brother dead.

You know something I now understand how Titanic was a love story. I watched much more then I wanted in the HOPE it would get better.

Welcome to the slums of Mumbai.

Interestingly enough, one of the complaints about SDM when it came out was that it watered down the realities of street life in the Juhu slums of Mumbai.

The book is much more graphic, and accurate.

I saw it on HBO or one of those channels on opening night...I really enjoyed the movie. I am not sure it is something I would watch again though.

Frieda Pinto makes any movie look good. Even "Immortals".

It was a damn good movie. I'm surprised that nobody whined about how the movie pandered to the Muslims because it showed Islamic Indians getting assaulted by Hindi Indians.

Anyway, that same actor kid also starred in The Last Air Bender. What a waste of talent.

I saw it in the theater when it first came out. I don't know what you miss but after the movie was over I was thinking about going to India to adopt a kid. I was thinking I can't save them all but I can save one.

I enjoyed it. My wife convinced me to go see it with her when it came out and I'm glad I did.

I had been to India a few times before the film came out and was glad that it was toned down. Enjoyable, but most certainly made for Americans. HH
