Anyone have any feedback ob this?
THE PETITION TO ADM. GARY ROUGHHEAD, CHIEF NAVAL OPERATIONS:
I have not seen this, but I don't endorse the CNO doing this. I think the guys are not guilty, but it has become rolling stone that cannot be stopped, and now the COC has to let it play out in the justice system. Any political maneuvering will have a bad outcome. Remember, these guys asked for a court martial.
They asked for a court martial to force the government into treating them fairly and having the rules of evidence in play. Had they accepted the NJP they would have suffered because of opinions instead of facts. Most likely the government will try to pull some sneaky business just before trial with their defense counsels assignment unless they retain civilian lawyers at their own expense.
Totally agree. They have both Navy and civ attorneys, and there are several legal funds out there. The sad thing is even if they are declared innocent at trial, it'll still effectively end their careers as shooters.
Unbelievable that these operators are being put through this! They should have just smoke checked his ass.
