I am looking to save up for my first 1911 and I was checking into the Smith & Wesson 1911SC. I did searching on here but did not see any posts (might have missed it though).

Here is a good article about the pistol, I really like it and I am searching around to find one to handle.

I live in IL where we are the last state to NOT have concealed carry, but if it does ever get passed I would probably carry this SW1911SC.

Anyone have one of these or any extra input about them for a daily carry gun?

    Thanks!

I actually like the E-Series. I'm not big on the scales, but I do like the fact that S&W did away with the firing pin safety.

They feel like good quality as well.

  3. One of these might be in my future. I like the way they look, but haven't gotten to handle one yet.

The scales seem to be hit or miss with people, I personally like them, not as much as I like them on the M&P45's but I like them.

By the time I save up enough to buy one I should have an opportunity to handle one..hopefully :)

I've handled them, but never shot one. I actually like it and the scales have grown on me. I may own one someday, but there are several ahead of it. I have not had much experience with smith 1911's in general, but when shooting friends and rentals I have never had any issues. probably not a very helpful post. Rent one if you can and buy it if you like it. There will likely never be a consensus on any 1911 on this board, especially when it comes to 1911's with ee's.

Yam seemed to like 'em; and I agree about the scales. S&W has overdone it on these models.

I have a few thousand flawless rounds through this and am very happy with it.

It seems to get the job done.

If anyone has a pic of a S&W bobtail with fish scales, or with a dark finished slide, but with a flat trigger instead of the factory style one, I would really like to see it.

I think I'm going to hold off on purchasing one and get a M&P45 instead for my first .45

Sorry to hear that. Hope you don't regret it, but I am sure you will.

    Why's that? I didn't say I wasn't going to get a 1911, just not for my first .45

I just don't care for the M&P's at all.
