I have a Remington VTR chambered in .223 Rem. I orderedsome ammo listed as .223 REM, but when I got it, it is listed as .223 REM and 5.56X45 and also has the designation of M193 all on the box. I understand that the .223 and the 5.56 are almost but not quite interchangeable, and I understand that M193 is a millitary designation. My question is....Is this ammo safe to use in my .223 Remington sporting rifle? The ammo brand is Sellier and Bellot if that makes any difference?

    Thank you in adavance,

It probably wouldn't blow the rifle but no, 5.56 ammo especially M193 should not be used in a short throat .223.
