Get out and shoot your Black Rifle

Run and gun rifle match at the Pueblo West Sportsman's Association range on the 4th Sunday of every month.

    -Match fee is only $15.
    -Set up starts around 6:30am
-Shooters meeting and walk through is at 9:45am
-We generally shoot 3 to 4 different stages (a majority of the targets are steel targets).
-Targets from point blank range out to 425 yards.

Don't be intimidated by competition, it's a great time, and you are not competing against anyone but yourself. This match is an awesome venue to sharpen old skills and learn new skills, not to mention it's a lot of fun.

    Directions to the range:

    From Colorado Springs (Southbound I-25)

-South bound on I-25 to Exit #108

-Exit on #108, at the end of the off ramp take a right onto Purcell

-Travel 4.2 miles on Purcell to Platteville Rd, and turn right onto Platteville Rd.

-Travel 2.4 miles on Platteville Rd to Cashmire Ave

-Turn Right on Cashmere ave and take the second road left to the range (Loma Ave). There are green / white signs once your reach Cashmere ave directing you to the range

Pics from last week's match.....first match of the season.....(4th Sunday of every month at the Pueblo West Sportsmans Association range):

Targets that you'll typically see at ranges from 50 yards out to around 400 yards (along with LaRue targets, steel pepper poppers, 10" round gongs, etc):

Talking about guns on the internet is not going to improve your shooting skills or teach you the pros and cons of your rifle / carbine and the optics and accessories you have mounted on it.

**Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the guys that put these matches on and don't make a dime off any of these matches. I post this information in an attempt to get guys off the internet and involved in quality trigger time and the shooting sports.**

Hope to see some of you at next month's match!

(Thanks to Hozer and the rest of the guys for all the effort they put into these matches!!!)

Hmmm I have had Sundays off lately.... It's a bit of a drive from here but it looks like fun! I'll have to convince the lady that I need a magnifier for my EoTech first. That way I'll actually be able to hit targets at 400yds. It would be a nice change from all the close range stuff we do at work.

Well it is a game after all... Nothing illegal/cheating about using a break on an AR.

Great thread Jeff! It has given me some inspiration to help get my local range up to date with some run and gun targets so we can play too. I am going to see if the boss will let me commandeer some steel at work so I can get started. I have been thinking about it for a while now but this is the push I needed......Thanks!

Minimum round count is under 100. Most guys go through 130-150. Bring 200-250 and you will be fine.

No match in June, scheduling conflict with the range. However there is a Sniper match this Saturday.

Rod and Cheryl come up now and again. Shelby made it up a few times and Tate waves his arms like he might.

You might want to car pool up...
