    Hay everyone,

I'm thinkin" about picking up a Ruger Charger and was wondering if anyone on the forum has any experiance with one.

I know its basiclly a 10-22 pistol so function souldn't be an issue. What mods are being done and what mags are being used?

    thanks,

    sig357fan

I've had one since they first came out, and find it to be a lot of fun. I've used a wide variety of magazines, but have pretty much settled on the standard factory mag. I bought some Tri-Mag holders that clamp three factory mags together and find it to be quite good with the Charger... here is a (not very good) picture of mine.

I've had my Charger for about 1 1/2yrs. now and really enjoy it. I put a Bushnell Trophy 2-7x32 handgun scope on it. It is extremely accurate with Remington standard velocity ammo. As for the mags, I am using the standard factory mags.

I've had the Charger since they first came out.

It's my relaxing gun. I just like to sit back and try to shoot little groups.

I haven't had any luck with hi cap mags in my 10/22 rifle or Charger, so I just use the 10 round factory mags.

I don't have a pic of mine, but it's a blast to shoot.

I've had mine a while and it is absolutely a blast to shoot. I have upgraded some parts, and spent alot of time making mine unlike most others. Still use factory mags though.

I've had mine since they first came out. Add a 2X scope, auto bolt release and tons of high capacity mags.

Makes for fun shooting and no reloading at the range.

I love mine. It's acurrate even with cheap ammo. I have emptied my Butler Creek Steel Lips Mag several times with only one jam.

You can add me to the 'it's fun to shoot and accurate too' list. I found that the factory 10 round mags are the most reliable. I found the 25 round Buttler Creek mags with steel lips to usually be reliable. The plastic lip version, not so much - but with less than 18 or less rounds they are OK.

dave - but mine needs a better sight

I put a Konus 2x on mine ($60 from Optics Planet with free shipping) and it has been great. Clear optics and excellent adjustments.

Here's a (slightly) better pic of mine with the Konus on board.

Chargers are fun. You can do so much with them.

I would like to have a stock that transformed into a rifle stock - for those 'long' shots. OK, I know, just use a rifle. But that would not be as much fun. And a fun gun does not have to be logical.

dave - but is that kinda stock legal?

It isn't legal on a Charger as is. You would have to look at getting approved for a tax stamp for a SBR (short barrel rifle), to pull that off.

Thanks for answering my question. Guess that's why I have not seen a setup like that.

dave - we'll have to do without

I love mine. I added an extended mag release, bolt buffer, picatinny scope base, auto bolt release, and new bolt handle. Also, thats a 10" Hi-desertdog threaded barrell, with irons, and a tactical innovations feaux suppressor. She has a Simmons red dot on top, and the bipod is currently being borrowed by another toy of mine. I mainly run 5 Butler Creek Steel Lips mags through it, and they do just as good as factory mags for me. She's been known to take out a couple lifesize rabbit targets drawn on a piece of lauan at around 150-160 yards. ;]
