You know, I have heard that they have good CS. I would send it to them but at this point it seems just as easy (and cheaper if it fixes the problem) to try the VQ Exact Edge first and see if that solves it without having to send the whole rifle or parts of the rifle anywhere.

By the way folks, my VQEE extractor is in the mail, will keep you updated.

Now, im off to find a thread on how to remove and replace the extractor.

If you are going to be screwing with a 10/22, you might as well get one of the gunsmiths tool kits. They are not expensive and very handy to have.

    Here's a post I replied to @ Rimfire Central, I'm Beretta92 over there..
    http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.Beretta92/=Extractor
I took a couple of pics showing how I did it..
You can also try a dental pick in a freezer bag but thesmall drill bit or paper clip works realy good, THis was on my MKII but t he 10/22 uses the same extractor & is maybe even easier to replace , Very Similar..
    Good Luck!!

+1 on RFC. Here's a suggestion that will cost you nothing. Remove the barrel and action from the stock, loosen the screws on the barrel V block, twist the barrel back and forth a little while looking at the extractor. The object is to center the extractor in the notch on the barrel, once done, tighten the screws up tight and re-install the whole thing back in the stock. I've seen an extractor being slightly off center causing problems.
    Good Luck

    Hi folks,

I recieved my VQ exact edge extractor monday, and finally got around to putting it in today. I am happy, no, THRILLED to report that I just put 8 butler creek 25 rounders (200 rounds) through the rifle without a single issue. Slowfire, rapid fire, doesn't matter. All of the brass now goes in the same pile, about the 2 o'clock position from where I'm shooting.

Thank all of you for the advice, and I am happy to report that I am a believer in the VQEE!! Comparing the two extractors, it is apparent to me that the factory one is funky, on the part of the extractor which physically engages the rim of the casing, it's curved, it is difficult to explain so I will follow up with pictures.

But thank you for the tips, th e VQEE works awesome. Fixed my problem 100% so far, will really put some rounds through it soon and let you guys know how it fairs then.

My new one did the same thing. It was an easy fix, I just unscrewed the barrel clamps and realigned the extractor slot in the barrel with the bolt, put back and tightened clamping screws.Problem solved.

One would think Ruger would have a decent stock extractor in there by now,Ive heard of a few of the newer ones doing this in researching the issue mine had.. Im glad yours works now.

As I said before I've seen one go from Jam-O-Matic to sweet shooter with only a new Volquartzen Extractor..
I have one in both my Rugers MKII & 10/22 & everyone I will ever own..
    Congrats!!

I promised pics so here they are, I know they're not the best, they were taken with my Blackberry and it has a decent camera but is still a cell phone.

As you can see here, the factory extractor is curved along the bottom on the edge which pulls on the casing, I'm not sure if this is intentional or if it slipped past the (non-existant) Ruger QC.

Now here are pics of the VQEE extractor in place in my bolt. It is a little bit harder to illustrate when its on the bolt, but I didnt want to take it out. As you can see the edge which is curved on the factory extractor is an EXACT EDGE on the VQ extractor (coincidence? I think not!)

ETA: I dont know why it looks like my bolt is rusty and pitted in the picture, just the way the pictures turned out it's not rusty

The VQ extractor is like day and night compared to Ruger.
