I have a notebook and I want to run a batch file to backup a certain directory on bootup. But only if I'm connected to my LAN. Bootup anywhere else, even if I on another LAN, and skip the boot.

Notebook is running Xp Pro, SP2. LAN is a W2K AD.

Have it first try to map a drive to the folder on the server where you want to save the directory (I'm assuming you want to backup to a server). If it cannot map the drive then end the batch.

Have you looked into the Win XP Synctoy? You can set it to run at startup.

I have it set up on my laptop to sync to a network drive. When I boot at home, it sees there's no network and closes. That may work for you. :)
