Pick myself up a 9mm Tactical as a beater for the range. I shoot 3-500 rounds a weeks and don't have the time to keep up with reloading 45acp.I'm sure I will do a few odds & ends to it when I get it and read a bunch of positive reviews on it .Curious to see how durable & dependable it will be out of the box.

My 9mm Tactical was a POS even after a return trip to the factory. Other people seem to have really good luck with theirs though.

I love mine only problem I had with it was the ambi safety needed to be fitted a tad better. Little filing and ambi safety was perfect even thought it was ditched for Colt GI safety. Personal thing I am not left handed and I find the ambi to be unsightly other then that Love my RIA 9mm.

I've had good luck with Rock Island 1911's. The 5" Tactical did have to go back to them for a loose front sight, but that's been the only issue. The 3.5" GI and the 5" Match model have been perfect. I'd like to see a Rock Island done up with some custom work. I started to have Ron Phillips spruce one of mine up before he went back to Wilson. But drug my feet on getting it to him. :crying:Would have been a really cool gun too.

Well hopefully if it runs good I have a few plans for it when I have the time.

Checker the front strap ,ball cut the slide and Cerakote it.

Ive thought about picking up a 9mm RIA Tactical just because their so damn cheap. Id like a 9mm 1911 but I don't want to even spend as much as a S.A. loaded costs.

My 9mm tactical has been a tack driver since day one; no issues at all with any ammo

My first 1911 was the RIA Tactical in 9mm I kinda went back and forth about 45 vs 9mm then it dawned on me.

9.79 for a box of 9mm ammo (brass case)
17.95 fora box of 45ACP ammo (brass case)

them are the two cheapest prices for brass case ammo on ammotogo.com

That is almost a 2-1 ratio so that means I get get to shoot 2x's more if I am shooting 9mm. That was the deciding factor when i got to the range I go to enjoy my self not worry if I gonna have enough ammo.

That is exactly why I bought it. No time to reload and I can buy blazer 9mm ammo for what it cost me to reload 45acp per box.

Exactly. I have plenty of handguns, but every time I go shoot my TRP it is like $0.35 a shot. Basically, Id like to go to the range and shoot a 1911 and have it cost me around $60 rather than well over $100.

It hit the shop today. I swapped out the rear sight with Heinie slatpros that I cut to ledge style. I also removed the barrel bushing and fitted a SA GI I had around the shop.
For a $400 gun the fit was pretty tight with no side to side play with a little vertical play.Barrel bushing was a bit loose (reason it was replaced). No barrel movement while in battery.

RIA also polished the feed ramp.

I gonna try to hit the range with it tomorrow.

Shot it today. All I can say is wow! $425 ?? Shot just as good as SW Pro series 9mm 1911. 150rds with out an issue.
Shoots a bit low for me so I was gonna swap out the front sight with a FO anyways.
