I've been on a bit of a "retro" kick lately. At least retro inspired, if not true to form. I got a Colt ANVIII (01911ANVIII) a few months ago, and earlier this week took delivery of a Colt Talo WWII "Armed Forces" (01970A1MA).

I love the retro pistols as well. I just picked up a 70 Series Colt, and love it!

If I ever buy a Colt I want one of those.

Very nice. The walnut grips definitely look more period correct than the cocobolo ones.

So old it defines "retro" ...

An original WWI Colt 1911. Born-on date: 11/1917.

Slide proudly sez: "Model of 1911 U.S. Army"

And after 94 years, this old warhorse can still get it done.

    :agree: OP, nice collection!

Spur hammer, solid trigger (even if it's not a Quack Trigger), minimalist billboards, fine cocking serrations (none of front)...

That WWII reproduction is kind of a weird mix of features, isn't it? Shorter 1911-style grip safety tang, wide hammer, double diamond grips, and the front sight looks like the older version too.

    You're making me want to get a retro-looking 1911, though! :)

Talo seems to get Colt to put out some interesting stuff.

I just saw an Ithaca that was "modified". A real GI Ithaca. Made me want to cry.

Ive always wanted one of those "Talo" retro series 70 Colts with the old rollmarks. That would make a heck of a base gun. I just hope that someday when Im ready I can find one.

  12. Nice looking pistols.

I prefer the modern versions for shooting (more comfort for me), but the classic lines are still easy on the eyes.
