Remington Golden Sabre 147 gr

    I read a chuckhawks article that said the 147 gr bullet should not be used for self defense. They indicated it was unreliable (feeding problems). Do you agree with that.

    im gonna say that would depend more on the gun. if it works 100% in yours you dont have a feeding problem.

    i take issue with 147gr.'s being unreliable expanders but they have been reported to cause feeding issues.

    Chuck Hawks, same guy who said the .300 WSM (and other short mags) had reliability feeding issues when it/they first came out. :rofl:

    I've never had feeding issues with any 147gr in 9mm or .38Super; including Golden Sabers in both calibers.

    Take Chuck with a grain of salt, or 2 or 3 or 4 . . . :upeyes:

    I've never had trouble with my G17, 19 or 26 feeding any weight bullet, including my handloads. Go figure.

    Just ordered a box of 147gr bonded GSers from ammotogo. I'll let you know how they expand. But like others have mentioned. No feed problems here.

    No issues here with 124 or 147 Golden Sabers.

    The information offered by Chuck Hawks is dated, and in many instances, untrue or inaccurate.

    Handgun ammunition has improved greatly over the last decade and what he has to offer is simply no longer valid since he has either not bothered to keep up with the developments or cannot be bothered to update his dusty little website.

    Yeah that's old info. Google 147gr Gold Dots and HSTs and you'll see how good they are these days. Golden Sabres are a little dated though and there are better loads now, IMO.

    I don't agree,but who am I. I have never had a problem w/ 147 HSTs or Win PD in my 9mms. Could you post a link to the article? When was it written? 147s do very well in jello w/ todays projectiles.
