what's interesting is the 5 shot group averages with a total of 15 groupings

    Black Hills JHP - 2.16"
Remington Golden Saber JHP - 1.85"

I looked at an R1 when they first came out and almost bought one. I have recently seen two others and they did not seem to have as nice a fit and finish. One had a loose slide to frame fit and both had a prominent line down the front strap that I did not notice on the first one.

My Remington R1 is pretty good. It's not a beautiful work of art or anything, but fit and finish are equal to other guns in the same price range (and better than many). I think you get your money's worth, if mine is representative of the average R1.

I haven't read the article yet, just looked at the pretty picture at the start of it.

Saw the show they did on it. Not impressed but I have not fired it yet so I can't give first hand knowledge of it. But for about $699 I'd rather pay a $100 to $150 more for a SW 1911 PD or Sig 1911 or Kimber Custom Target or a Rock Island w/ Wilson upgrades.

You don't pay $699 for the Remington.

I agree. I'd like to get one and do it up like Quack is doing his. Except I would add some MIM parts.

I noticed the frontstrap looks disproportionately thick... what's with the junk in the trunk?

I have a Remington Rand, M1911 A1, U.S. Army, it was bought through the NRA, CMP, in the sixties, looks brand new and shoots great. I thought i might buy the new Remington R1, just to have the old and the new.
