...of course, I'm talking about Christmas trees.

We've always gotten real trees. I prefer the look and smell much better over fake trees.

    What is your preference?

We went fake years ago. Too much mess getting them out of the house. Plus we have an old pre 1900 house, so if we had a fire it would go just about as fast as the tree.

I don't put up Christmas trees because I'm a lonely single man with no motivation for that kind of thing, but when I do reach the point in my life where I have a wife and kids who insist on a tree, I'm going natural.

Natural trees are a pain in the behind for little benefit. They're a pain to acquire, a pain to set up, and they sit there and rot. Then they're a pain to get rid of. But they smell good and my pride is at stake.

As long as they look alright, it doesn't matter to me if they're real or fake, Christmas trees or otherwise.

Real ones make me sick. Me and my dad found out we were allergic to cedar one year when we brought a ~14' cedar into the house for a Christmas tree.

I like the really fake ones. The fiber optic ones are my favorite.

Real. Though good, expensive, well crafted fakies aren't too bad.

That goes for Christmas trees too.

I am also allergic. Even being around someone who has a real tree at home bothers me. This time of year, if I am going to someone's home, I will ask if they have a real tree. If they do, I won't go.

    Fake.

A tree fire in my neighbor's house across the street gutted the house and put him in the hospital.

    Real trees burn like incendiaries.

In 34 years, I've never had a real tree.

Been married 12 years, and both of us have allergies, so we never risked it.

They smell nice, I'll give them that. :)

Fake looks good season after season; real...not so much. Trees too.

Once I get my own place, and a family, and motivation to do it, I'll probably start out real, and then get a fake one when i get tired of the mess and the expense. Real smells better, but sometimes the real ones look like crap, depending on a number of factors, and they manufacture the fake ones to always full look super full and pretty.

 So you're saying the fakes stay firm year after year. Good point.
