Quick detach slings?

Discussion in 'Black Rifle Forum' started by trlcavscout, May 23, 2011.

  1. I went from the olds style to MS2 with ASAP plate so I have never used a quick detach system. But I see the CTR stocks and a lot of other accesories have the the detach points. I am interested in trying it but not sure what I need? I want an FDE sling that can be used in single or 2 point configuration, I will have a CTR stock but may go with the setup that slides on the buffer tube, so I will need a from contact point that will attach to MOE handguards. What do I need? Best sling for the money? Thanks.

I like VCAS 2 points (VTAC's are good too). If you add the 2-1 adapter sold by IWC (mount n slot) you have a great 2 point that can be turned into a single point. Only works with sling that don't have QD's sewn in (unless you want to cut the stitching and restitch).

On my rifles I add a Noveske QD end plate (or DD but Noveske is cheaper and works well) seen here: http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1363

I then mount a QD attachment point on my rail or handguard at the furthest point back. As seen here with the 2-1 adapter: http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/

detailed view of the adapter: http://www.impactweaponscomponents....ads-into-your-sling-and-makes-it-convertible/

I am not a big fan of most single points. They are great for transitions but not very useful for anything else IMO.

I've got a VCAS with the sewn in swivels and love it.(link) I attach it with a DD end plate and the built in socket on the Omega X. It's a great set-up and works well.

You can also use your MS2 as an impromptu 2-point with QD points. The claw can hook onto the front QD, and the rear "hook" (the real name for it is eluding me) can be attached to a QD loop in the rear. Magpul also makes the RSA (Rail Sling Adapter) - get the MOE handguard rail, and mount the RSA to that. The claw attachment then grabs onto the RSA, and you can even continue to use the "hook" with ASAP sling plate to form a 2-point sling.

Padded VCAS with a MASH hook up front connected to an IWC Mount-N-Slot on my MOE handguards. Rear QD connects to either the CTR's socket or the DD QD receiver endplate. Also have a fastex buckle on the back, along with a D-ring that I can attach the MASH hook to for a single-point setup. Idea shamelessly stolen from someone here, I think it was Surf.

You could make it even a bit more streamlined by getting all sewn in attachments, but I wanted to play around with different options.
