I received a phone call from a telemarketer hired by the National Veterans Advocacy Foundation. I researched the organization and found that basically all they do is duplicate programs that the DAV, VFW, American Legion, AmVets, Marine Corps League, and VA offer at no charge. While it is likely that some vets have benefited from this group, the man who answered their phone would not provide any information about how much of my donation would be lining his own pocket.
