My local shop took a Performance Center Comp 40 pistol on consignment this week. I believe they were sold in very limited numbers through a Lew Horton distributor a while back. I believe there was only 100 to 150 made. This one is number 30.

Does anyone know anything about the gun? Its DA/SA and obviously based on one of the full size 3rd gen 40S&W models. However, it has the compensator and the PC barrel bushing and, as with all Performance Center pistols, this one feels solid and very well constructed.

Any help would be appreciated. Its the first one I've ever seen and I'll be darned if I can find a pic of one online. :dunno:

Is this it? -- (S&W Forum link & pics therefrom...)

PS: Found using Google Image Search...which, FWIW, I often find easier/faster when looking for 'oddball' stuff (esp. gun-related oddities). In this case, I only 'guessed at' the input terms -- Performance+Center+Comp+4006 -- and ran the search once. The pics above came up in pretty near the the 'pole position'... (Close result? If so, HTH. Also.)

PPS: Reading the S&W Forum thread further, it looks like the PC comp guns -- autos only; revos are another matter -- may have all been special/individual order items instead of 'distributed' goods. (Again, HTH.)

Or maybe this one from Lew Horton? -- (further down in same S&W forum thread...)

    PS:
Evidently, some were distributed after all.

    My pleasure, bac.

This type of question, particularly those on S&Ws, always makes me curious, and I enjoy the challenge of trying to find answers.

Sometimes, I 'win,' sometimes not, but whenever I do, I post what I find (and, if it seems appropriate/helpful, how I found it).

    AC

I know it's been over a year, but I'm going to pick this pistol up soon.

It's been on hold for me all this time.

It's a cool pistol for sure.
