A friend of mine enlisted as a 42 Alpha, I really do not much about this mos, only that it seems like you work on reports, promotions run paper work and that sort of thing.

If deployed what would be the duties overseas?

I'm guessing taking care of promotions, pay problems typing up reports in a some what "safe" area.

  5. Mostly the same stuff as back here in the states. Sometimes getting the mail and delivering paperwork can get a little more exciting in Iraq, but for the most part it's the same job as back home. The bullets, IEDs and mortars don't care what your MOS is. Hope that helps. RLTW.

We had some 42 series mentoring Afghans in Engineer and Infantry duties, and teaching some of those skills. Depends what the need is at the time. They would be involved in infantry duties such as checkpoints, cordon and searches and presense patrols, or the apprehension of bad guys.
