Hi there, I am from Indiana, have an Indiana carry license... I'll be going to Illinois overnight next week. I understand that I can't carry the weapon in Illinois, and that it must be locked up unloaded in trunk while I'm visiting the state. However I am wondering what the rules are regarding my hotel room. Is it illegal for me to have my weapon loaded and ready while in my own hotel room? Is that considered "carrying"?

  2. The laws are all over the place (vary so much from town to town).

I would have it in the room, legal or not.

The farther south you get in the state, the more "forgiving" it is in respect to this (generally speaking, that is) but don't expect a full pass. After all it is a communist state.

Where in IL? Many people carry in illinois eventhough its not legal. Keep in mind that chicago is the murder capital of the USA as of 2008.
