Before the Roanoke Times removed the CCW database, was there a way to list ALL the entries? I'm just wondering if anyone could have downloaded the whole list and if it will just pop up elsewhere (although this could be done anyway by re-obtaining the records).

  2. You could search all the records, but only a few on a page.

Probably would be pretty simple to write a script that copied all the information. But it would be easier to write the state police and spend the $100 for the list.

Ok, so you couldn't just do a Select-All and copy/paste to get the whole thing. I guess that provides some comfort...

A lot of the comments on the blog are right: few criminals are going to waltz up to the State Police and fork over a hundred bucks for this info. Off a website, however, that's trivial.

  4. It listed a bunch on a page, maybe 50 or so.

It would take you a long time of copy and paste to get all 135,000 entries.
