I just bought a brand new G19 gen 3 and love it! After firing about 100 rounds through it i went home and started to clean. While I was cleaning the lower frame I noticed behind the 2 rails there seemed to be some excess plastic so i took a small screwdriver and cleared it out. Is there suppose to be a gap behind those rails? The are no cracks and the rails feel solid. The only thing I can think of is that there was excess plastic from factory. I have not fired it since i saw this...Thanx!!

    Welcome to the fourm.

It's normal they all look like that. The 19 is a great gun.
If you ever have a problem Glock will fix it free.
My 19 is 23 years old and runs just like new.
You can not wear them out.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing in the pic.

My bet is there is no machining of plastic in a Glock, so you should watch for it. As long as it functions ok, I wouldn't worry about it too much......just check to see if any additional plastic shows up. On a new gun, it's likely that a small amount of rubbing of parts could cause some fitting of parts through use........

OK, My 19 is not at hand, but here is a G26.
You have nothing to worry about.
Your grandkids will be shooting that G19.

  8. A little wear and tear gives it character and proves it doesn't just sit in your case. When I got my Gen4 23 I had a lot of excess plastic that eventually was worn off through repeated firing. After about 1000rds you couldn't tell anything was excess and everything runs smooth as butter.

:freak: You just made me take my G-19 apart. Suggest you find something else to obsess about. There is utterly nothing visibly wrong with those rails - Nothing! You have my permission to go ahead and shoot it!
