I've seen people that love them and people who put them down. My question is would it be a good platform to build on as I don't think I have ever owned but one gun I didn't improve one way or another.

    Thanks :wavey:

    God no.

Its already "built up" with a lot of cheap tacked-on features. The front strap is already ruined as well. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Your only option would be to drop back 5 and punt. :whistling:

Believe me, its the worst 1911 on the current market.

...shhh, don't tell FLIPPER is just bashed the Taurus.

Please don't. I'm NOT a taurus hater as i happen like their revolvers but they should leave the 1911 market alone. Just because some people have them & don't have issues with them, that doesn't make them ok.

I like Taurus revolvers as well, but the 1911 is a POS.

The frame is as good as any other for a build project.

If the PT 1911 is such a POS then why does it sell so well with an expanded product line and a substantially higher price than the initial offering??

I own one I like it the way it is. Shoots fine. You should be fine building a project on one I notice nothing different between my Taurus frame and a Colt frame that a friend has.

  10. IMO, because most of the gun buying public is dumb enough (or uninformed enough) to think they are really getting a $2000 pistol for $700.

Because people still find it cheaper than SA, Colt, DW and the others and it LOOKS like a 1911.

NOOOOOOOOO! Friends don't let friends buy Taurus.

Springfield Milspec is a MUCH better build platform

Sorry, but the market is reality.

If prices were lower now than at the introduction there would be some backing to the POS comments about the PT-1911. Until then he opinion of a few 1911-snobs and 'collectors' on GT is just feel-good stuff.

If liking quality 1911's makes me a snob, COUNT ME IN!!!! I always thought of 1911 snobs to be the tradionalists who said "If it aint a colt, it aint a 1911", but if buying/liking quality guns makes a snob, im cool with that.

Im pretty sure the PT1911 could double as an instrument with all those rattling poorly fitted parts:wavey:

I bought a slightly used PT-1911 a couple of months ago, and the quality is no less than my RIA 1911 I bought four years ago. I've only taken it to the range once, shot about 50 rounds through it, and had no failures of any type with it.
It's as accurate as my RIA, and my son's SA Milspec as we shot both the same day for comparison.

Paid $440.00 OTD for the Taurus, and as I recall, $335.00 new for the RIA. I also have a Taurus Judge and a PT140 Milpro in.40 S&W, and have zero issues with either one also.
