So I picked up an NM prefix Springfield Loaded.
It's going to be a bit of a project gun, I have the following planned:
-Round butt or bob-tail still undecided
-Sight change, 10-8 or ???
-Carry bevel, very light, just knocking off the sharp edges
-Thumb safety blend lever upon install
-Blend slide to frame at rear
-Blend GS fit
-Harrison short trigger
-Blend contours of slide stop
Will have to farm out the refinish, plan on CeraKote
10-8 sight on. Wilson slide stop installed, blending of MHS complete.
Chatted with Joe Chambers about the front strap treatment.
After that it's off to Lou at Business End Customs for graphite black Cerakote
Decided to leave the FCS,.......fitted a thick EGW bushing & plug today.
I did not fit it "Baer tight" but darn near. 10x better fit than the Springer bushing!
Too bad, once it's done you'll be bored of it.
At least that's the way it is with my projects, once they're done I loose interest. I tell my wife that since I kept her for all these years I have to trade/sell the guns when I'm bored.
That's funny I was kind of building mine for a future son-in-law but alas it didn't work out. Safe queen but I may move it out to fund something else. Can't wait to see what Chambers does to that thing, it will be awesome.
I've always been interested in a Government sized slide and a bobbed frame. I have a bobbed Commander and love the feel, but all of my full sized 1911s have a regular MSH.
Well,.......my Springfield Loaded hack job is complete.
Joe Chambers took it over the top with a flush cut slide stop,
removed the front cocking serrations with a carry cut, ball cut,
matching stipple & serration cuts on front strap & mainspring housing,
custom hammer, Chambers short, flat trigger, & finished in matte blue.
Joe is an amazingly talented PistolSmith.
